After School
Your day doesn’t always end when theirs does. That’s why the Legacy YMCA offers after-school programs that serve children from Bessemer City schools, and Jefferson County schools. YMCA after-school programs focus on nurturing a child’s development by providing a safe and healthy place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance through the Y’s values of CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, and RESPONSIBILITY. Available for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Our afterschool program provides a range of activities, including:
- Academic enrichment and homework help
- Structured activities that provide kids with physical activity outside
- Hands-on, engaging activities to do inside
- Healthy snacks
- Arts and crafts
Hours
Monday – Friday from school dismissal to 6:00 pm
Cost
- YMCA Members = $50 per week
- Program Members = $70 per week
- Registration Fee = $30
Parent’s Night Out
Parent’s Night Out provides an opportunity for children from all parts of the community to come together and play while their parents are away! PNO is open to children ages 6 months to 8th grade. The YMCA provides dinner and snacks to attending children and the program is open to both YMCA members and non-members. Bring a friend and join in the fun!

Child Watch
The importance of physical activity is not just for parents! With our Child Watch program, your child or infant will get the most out of their visit to the YMCA while you get a personal workout or enjoy one of our Group Exercise classes.
Child Watch is offered as a free program for members with a Family membership. For up to two hours per day; in Child Watch, your child or infant will be engaged and have fun with our trained Child Watch team. You as a parent, have the freedom to enjoy all the amenities the Legacy YMCA has to offer. A parent or guardian is the only adult allowed to sign the child in and out, and are required to remain on-site at the Y during their child’s visit.

Mom’s Morning Out
Our Mom’s Morning Out program is designed to help yout little one develop necessary foundational skills. We focus on social and emotional skills, and fine and gross motor skills. This is a play based program infused with structure and routine to nurture your little one’s growth. Come discover, play and grow at Legacy YMCA.
WE SERVE CHILDREN 3 TO 5 YEARS OF AGE.
Children must be fully potty-trained.

Youth Sports
Playing sports at the Legacy Y is fun for everyone! Kids ages 3-13 can choose from basketball, flag football, cheerleading and soccer. No matter which sport they get involved in, they will learn the basics of good sportsmanship and healthy competition … along with our core values of CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, and RESPONSIBILITY.
